Nigel Douglas Biography

 

Nigel Douglas is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Douglas Funds Consulting Pty Ltd which is an independent research firm that undertakes customised fund and client specific research projects as well as investment committee and non-executive director roles.

Mr Douglas has over 30 years financial markets experience with high level expertise in investment manager research, asset allocation and macroeconomics.

He was Head of Research at van Eyk Research (upto 2010 when it was the premier retail rating house) and then Head of Investment Research at Perpetual Private (a unit of Perpetual Limited). More recently, he led institutional manager research for traditional asset classes at ANZ Wealth where he was Senior Manager Mandate Research.

Before joining van Eyk in 2001, he specialised in financial markets, macroeconomics and was appointed Chief Economist and Senior Fixed Income Strategist at Merrill Lynch Australia.  Additional relevant experience was gained at the AMP Society (primarily in fixed interest markets analysis and equities market dealing) and briefly in Federal and State governments (Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and NSW Department of Transport).

 

Mr Douglas holds a range of academic and technical qualifications that underpin his extensive financial markets experience. These qualifications include Bachelor of Economics (Hons), Australian National University; Graduate Diploma (Economics), University of Sydney; Master of Applied Finance, Macquarie University; Master of Commerce, University of Sydney; and Master of Arts (Modern History), Macquarie University.
